While I was looking for a specific guitar recently I stumbled upon a music store that I've never heard of before here in Germany. While checking their website, it caught my attention that they are offering instruments and gear rental. The concept is not exactly the same as of the company in studiotan's post. The deal is that one can rent i.e. an instrument as long as needed and if a certain rental time is reached, it becomes the renter's property.

So, for an American Pro II Telecaster the monthly payment is about 52 €. After 72 months the guitar would change hands.
That's 3.744 € for that guitar.

They sell it for half the price. Go figure.
